The early emerging Baptisia 'Butterball', which sprouts in March (NC), forms a compact 18" tall x 2' wide deer resistant clump of glaucous foliage, adorned with obscenely large and floriferous pendulous spikes of creamy yellow flowers starting in early April (in NC).
