The small clumps, which are similar to Scutellaria serrata, reach 1' tall x 20" wide, clothed with thumb size green leaves that emerge with a narrow black border. The deciduous clump is topped, starting for us in early May, with stalks of violet flowers that rise 4" above the mound of foliage.
