Ash splint baskets were made almost exclusively in what is now known as New England by the Algonquin and Wabanaki tribal groups. The southeastern tribes, located in what is now known as Connecticut, included the Nipmuck, Mohegan, Pequot, Niantic, Narraganset, and Long Island Montauk, while the Northeastern tribes included the Penobscot,
